How can I get motivated to exercise?
Big Question
Answer
Regular exercise is not only important for our physical health but aids our mental health. The government recommend children aged 5-18 should aim for an average of 60 minutes of rigorous exercise everyday but we understand it can sometimes be hard to get motivated to get up and move around. Try to schedule a regular time for your workouts and choose something you will enjoy. Exercise doesn’t have to be boring. Play Frisbee with your dog or put your favourite music on and dance. If you still struggle to find motivation try joining a group class such as football or netball. This may make you feel more committed and motivated plus you may make some new friends. Have a look on the Change for Life website that provide fun 10 minute shake up games and information about active hobbies and sports you can get involved with. Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) also provides fun energising exercises videos online for you to watch and join in within the comfort of your own home – so no excuse even if it’s raining. Also make sure to check out your local activity centres such as Blackburn Youth Zone and Blackburn Rovers for activities, especially over the school holidays when your activity levels may drop.
